something about Bobba Fett liking Star Trek feels right.

I mean, Jedi’s killed his father. It’s only natural he wouldn’t be a Star Wars fan.

  2. Cory

I wonder if Kirk and Spock are closet Star Wars fans.

Hey Cory, I have been meaning to ask you… What do you use to draw your comics? I have been using a combo of OpenOffice Draw and the GIMP, but am always looking for better and easier ways to do things… Especially since I am such a shitty artist.
Also, give my compliments to Jon on the comic. Totally good stuff.

Thanks Brad! BTW this is Jon,glad you liked the comic. Cory (a very good friend of mine for years I must say) could probably answer your question about what software and programs you could use but we usually start them off as regular sketches on plain old paper. We have since high school! Keep reading, and again THANK YOU

I don’t use anything fancy Brad. I start by making a loose sketch in pencil and tighten that up until I’m happy with the drawing. Then I take the pencil sketch and put it under a lightbox (which I made from a old box and lightbulb). I ink with a regular ballpoint pen on a clean piece of standard computer paper. Using a lightbox instead of inking over the pencils insures that I have a nice, clean finished ink drawing. From there I scan at 600dpi and open in illustrator to create a vector of the drawing. I then save and reopen in Photoshop to add colors and text and what have you. Then I save the comic as a .png file upload onto the site and there you have it.

That is what I feared. Ima have to learn how to draw better. haha So sad. Maybe I will just keep with stick figures.
Thanks for the rundown Cory. Will keep all that in mind as I continue modifying my style and such.

Well Brad lots of practice is the best way to get better. Both Jon and I have been drawing since before we can remember. It’s always been a constant in our lives. Don’t settle for art you aren’t happy with. Constantly challenge yourself to do new stuff. Keep at it and keep all your old drawings. It’s fun to look at your old stuff and see how much you’ve progressed and you will progress.

Are you thinking of doing a comic, Brad? I’d love to check it out. You don’t have to be a great artist to do a webcomic. Many use very simple art. Look at xkcd, whiteninja or Schlock Mercenary. If your comic is funny, original and sincere that will show through in your work.

The thought has crossed my mind from time to time over the years. The writing is the easy part for me. I already have some funny shit ready to go, just no art to go with it. Guess that will come with time and practice. And a new scanner.
If nothing better, I will have one hell of a backlog of content when I finally do get everything in place. :) haha
If you care to discuss it in more detail, go ahead and shoot me an email. You should have the address in your wp-admin.

Hey, Brad, there are sites where you can go and look for artists that are looking for ideas. Just google “web comics” or something like that and you’ll find several sites. Why don’t you give it a try?

Cory, I just got here from smbc and I’m a fan already.

Thanks Mario, glad to have you as a reader. Love the Avatar. As far as finding an artist to do some drawings a good place to look are webcomic forums like the http://www.thewebcomiclist.com/ or comic genesis. They often have classified ads advertising for writers or artist where you can post. But I’ve found that it’s much more difficult to find an Artist than it is to find a writer. But it couldn’t hurt to try.

@ Brad: You can draw stick figures? You’re SO skilled! (Seriously. I can’t even draw stick figures. How pathetic is that?)
