No, Behemoth-man. My influences are more along the line of Gary Larson of the Far Side, Charles Addams, and Don Martin. But I appreciate the comparison. SMBC is my favorite current comic. I think Zach is brilliant and the artwork suits the comic well.
I agree it does have a SMBC feel the one panel one off panel comment even the humor sometimes but with very destinct art and I’ve said before I love the humor here.
It is a breath of fresh air to stop by here every day even on days like today on saturday when I get off work to see a new comic up.
and lastly thanks for looking into the comments query =]
One of the reasons I chose to switch from strips to single panels was that it allowed me to post almost daily as opposed to 3 days a week. That way I’d have a new comic daily for the readers. Also, I have a back load of written single panel stuff that I’ve been sitting on since High School. This is one I wrote in school and finally committed to paper.
I didn’t start reading webcomics until I started making webcomics. Before that all my comic influences were through print comics. But I guess you can’t escape comparisons to other works. At least now I’m getting compared to SMBC instead of the Perry Bible Fellowship.
wait, wait - being compared to pbf is bad why, exactly?
i WISH that guy updated more, and i’m also digging this enough to have started at the beginning.. clearly i’m missing something.
I didn’t say being compared to pbf was a bad thing, teeef. I didn’t say that being compared to smbc was a bad thing. I was just saying that people have compared my comics to both. I enjoy and respect both comics very much. I was only stating that neither comic was an influence on mine, my influences go back a bit farther in time. Which is not saying that I’m not impressed by pbf or smbc only that I had basically a fully formed idea of the direction and style of humour that I wanted for my comic before I knew either pbf or smbc existed.
As far as pbf updates go, I doubt we’ll be seeing much new content heading our way. Nick seems intent on working on other things besides the comics. Bit of a shame.
